Office of Summer and Special Academic Programs

Mission

The Office of Summer and Special Academic Programs (SSAP) at the University of Virginia enhances the academic experience for current UVA students while also opening the University’s doors to visiting college students, rising high school juniors and seniors, and lifelong learners.

SSAP’s Summer Session and January Term give students a chance to take classes outside the regular school year—perfect for staying on track with degree requirements or trying out something new. Special Academic Programs like the Summer Language Institute (SLI) and Morven in Summer offer immersive learning experiences with guidance from expert professors. And for high schoolers, Pre-College programs like UVA Advance offer a sneak peek at undergraduate life and help them get ready for what’s ahead.
