This class is designed to introduce students to social change through the broad lens of culture.  We will begin by examining the wide variation of human cultural behavior and the impact that our own cultures have on our attitudes, behaviors, and approaches to life.  From there, we’ll narrow the discussion down to the cultural factors that lead to the high prevalence of power-based personal violence in our communities.  We’ll then place these factors into theoretical frameworks from a variety of disciplines, including psychology, anthropology, and public health, for the purpose of considering how we can intentionally shape the culture in a positive way.
